Transportation Network
Ningbo, adjoining to Shanghai and Hangzhou, is located at the middle section of China's coastline and the south flank of Yangtze River delta which is regarded as one of most prosperous areas in China. Ningbo is an important port city in the east coastal area in China. The volume of cargo throughput and container throughput reached 401 million tons and 13,004 million TEU respectively in 2010, speeding up by 24.8% which ranks the first among the 8 coastal ports in Mainland and the 30 international ports worldwide. For the first time the total volume of throughput ranks the 3rd among the Mainland coastal ports after ranking the 4th in the last successive 6 years; meanwhile, it came to be known as top 6 of the international ports of the world.

The intensive superhighway network extends   outwardly in a radiate type, closely connected to the central cities such as   Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou, and it takes 2 hours, 1.5 hours and 3 hours   respectively to reach there from Ningbo. In addition, the superhighway network   can extend longer to the Pearl  Rriver Delta economic zone.
           
As for the railway network, the Xiao-Yong   Railway multiple tracks are connected to the national railway network and   constructs a convenient railway transport circuit in Ningbo.
           
For the   airways, more than 30 airlines flying to metropolises of Mainland China have   been launched in Ningbo airport. Aerial liners to Hongkong and Seoul and chartered services to   Japan, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia as   well. There are 728 airlines every month and the density of the flights ranks   No.3 in Mainland China. Besides, the distance between Ningbo and Xiaoshan   international airport in Hangzhou is only about 110 kilometers.
